Today, May 15th, is National Chocolate Chip Day. Chocolate chips are, by far, my favorite cookies...it's not even the chocolate I like, because I've baked chocolate-less chocolate chip cookies. I like mine crunchy, not to sweet and not too big. If I had to buy them for a cookie fix, I go with Keebler Chips Deluxe, if not...I bake them.
Here is my favorite recipe for chocolate chips. It's originally from a family friend, but I changed the recipe little by little to suit my taste.
Paula's Chocolate Chips
2/3 cup shortening
1 stick margarine
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3 cup flour
1 bag or 2 1/2 cups of chocolate morsels
Cream shortening, margarine, sugar, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add flour, soda and salt. When fully mixed, add morsels. Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes.
